Unique Materials and European Manufacturing
For over 30 years, James Baroud has engineered premium roof top tents recognized worldwide. All materials are sourced from Europe to ensure uncompromising quality.
Hard shells are produced in Milan, Italy, while the technical fabric is manufactured in the Netherlands by a supplier also used for NASA aerospace textiles. Stitching uses Gütermann threads from Germany, renowned for strength and durability.
Each tent is hand-assembled in Porto, Portugal, ensuring exceptional attention to detail and a full 5-year warranty.
Reinforced Hard Shell
Thanks to its multi-layer fiberglass construction, the shell withstands extreme conditions: strong winds, heavy snow, intense heat, and heavy rain. The UV-resistant gelcoat protects the surface from long-term weather exposure.
An integrated solar fan ensures constant air circulation to limit condensation. In addition, self-locking latches guarantee secure closure, even on rough terrain.
Patented Waterproof Fabric
The multi-layer fabric provides excellent rain protection while blocking UV rays. It remains breathable, which reduces interior condensation — a key advantage during cold or humid nights.
Three doors and 360° windows on the Pop-up roof top tent deliver open views and outstanding ventilation. Tear-resistant mosquito screens protect effectively, while rubberized zippers ensure quiet operation, even at night.
Integrated Solar Fan
The 19.2 m³/h fan operates for up to 24 hours thanks to its internal battery, recharged by sunlight. As a result, the interior stays dry and comfortable in every season.
Secure Latches
The self-locking latches on the hard shell roof top tent prevent accidental opening. Padlock-compatible, they enhance security and maintain shell stability on uneven trails.
High-Pressure Strut Arms
Hydraulic struts enable fast, effortless opening. They tension the fabric perfectly, ensuring excellent wind resistance and consistent stability.
High-Density Mattress
The 65 mm mattress made from dense foam (28 kg/m³) provides outstanding support for restful nights. Its washable cover simplifies maintenance, and an optional anti-condensation mat helps reduce moisture beneath the mattress.
James Baroud Portable Light (optional)
This rechargeable USB light offers multiple modes (white, red anti-insect, reading). Built-in magnets allow easy mounting on the shell or inside the tent.
Interior Storage
A ceiling net stores light clothing and accessories, while Velcro side pockets keep small items within reach. When closed, around 20 cm of extra space allows storage of pillows or sleeping bags.
Included Ladder with the pop-up roof top tent
The telescopic ladder extends up to 2.4 m and supports up to 200 kg. Anti-slip steps and reinforced feet ensure excellent stability. An XL 3 m version is also available.
Mounting Clamps of the pop-up roof top tent
Adjustable clamps (30–85 mm) resist freezing temperatures and corrosion. A 14 Nm tightening torque ensures a secure hold, even during off-road driving.
Mounting Rails
Rails under the shell, spaced 65 cm apart, allow installation on 2 or 3 roof bars (45 kg each). Installation is simple using the included hex key.
For safety reasons, the recommended speed should not exceed 100 km/h when the tent is installed.
Compatibility of the Pop-up Roof Top Tent
The Evasion XL is compatible with most standard roof racks, provided the vehicle’s dynamic load rating is respected (often 75 kg). It works seamlessly with James Baroud annexes, awnings, and 4-season insulation kits.
For full autonomy, pair it with a portable diesel heater or a solar system. This way, your vehicle becomes a true exploration base.
Uses and Practical Scenarios of the hard shell roof top tent
On weekends, the tent deploys in seconds and provides efficient ventilation in summer. During multi-week road trips, its interior space makes organizing family gear easy.
In extreme or winter conditions, the reinforced shell and insulating fabric deliver reliable protection, even in Canada’s coldest regions.
Practical Tips for Campers
Stabilize the tent on uneven ground using the integrated level. Activate the solar fan to reduce condensation and humidity. For quick trips, choose accessible sites in Canadian national parks.
On road trips, regularly check clamp tightness and add a portable light for evenings. This way, you improve both comfort and safety.
For long off-grid expeditions, prepare your setup in advance, install an anti-condensation mat, and plan adequate solar power.
